Description: Second only to Kraftwerk as pioneers of 70’s electronic pop music AND as forefathers of techno, Japanese trio YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA unleashed about a dozen albums in a giddy seven-year stretch before disbanding in 1985. Most of these titles were never available in the States until Restless Records issued the bulk of their catalog domestically in 1992. However, they would delete the entire lot a few years later, rendering these excellent albums out of reach to the electronica devotees of today. Well, despair no longer, friends – Baron Elmo proudly offers you the chance to own a copy of one of YMO’s finest: Technodelic, first released in 1981. This disc is a compelling exploration of the rhythms and textures of New Wave, generously seasoned with the kooky, off-the-wall touches that these guys excel at... the Balinese monkey chant effect on “Neue Tanz,” to offer just one example. YMO members Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yuji Takahashi and Haruomi Hasono have an undeniable knack for catchy melodies and odd sounds, and they pack all their ideas into elegant yet very catchy music-box-like pop constructions that resonate with an oddball flair that never fails to charm. And on this album, they put a New Wave edge on the music that fits like a very cool glove. With the ongoing revival of early Eighties electro-pop, the music of Yellow Magic Orchestra sounds fresher than ever... and Technodelic is a great place to sample their special brand of brilliance. This disc shows the slightest of wear, but looks great and plays flawlessly. Track listing Pure Jam Neue Tanz Stairs Seoul Music Light in Darkness Taiso Gradated Grey Key Prologue Epilogue
