Vtg/Antique Ornate Figural Montagnani? Roma/Italy Hors d'oeuvre Appetizer Fork

Description: This is a Vintage/ Antique Montagnani / Montagnani style Hors D'Ouevre / Appetizer fork Silver-plate or Pewter Figural Tiger as finial 4.75 inches Front facing side is marked ROMA (see photo)Rear side is marked SPQR (see photo and explanation of mark below)Rear is possibly marked ITALY, but can't be sure (see photo) The Montagnani Italian factory started in 1871by a man named Giovanni. Italian souvenir spoons were made in brass, pewter, silver plate, gold plate, and sterling silver. Not every handle design was made with sterling and not every handle design used all the figural designs. Not all spoons were marked Italy. Montagnani was probably the most productive maker of these spoons but there were other makers. Montagnani spoons that are not marked were made from 1871 to 1891, those crafted after 1891 to 1918, when the factory was closed, due to WWI, were stamped Italy. If you are a collector, you will know exactly what this is. Either way it is a great little collector's fork!
