Vintage WW1 calvary campaign hat

Description: World War 1 enlisted man’s Calvary hat. I don’t know much about it. I bought it “as is” at an estate sale in Orlando Florida. It is made of wool felt. It shows wear (hey, it’s over 100 years old) but there are no holes or moth eating on it. It has the original hat band and the hat lanyard with the old fashion acorns. Inside is a name tag – “Lindsay”. Stamped inside is the number 2193. It has the original hat lining. The brass crossed sword emblem on the front is complete but “green” tarnished with age. In the center of the hat band bow is a colorful AEF pin with a Privates chevron on it. The AFE stands for American Expeditionary Force which was under the command of General John Pershing. I had this hat on my shelf in my office and it drew a lot of comments. It’s neat to imagine some Private galloping on horse back in France, sword drawn, charging the German lines!
