The gold embossing on the sweatband is faded but the sweatband itself is supple and intact. Sizing — everyone’s head size and shape is different and you should not expect a hat purchased online to fit perfectly out of the box. When the hat has a size tag I provide that information but it can differ from true size especially for vintage hats. I measure the interior circumference with a cloth tape and provide that information but this is not exact and the taper of the crown will affect size based on where it sits on your head. Some hats can be stretched 1/8” or so but you need special stretching equipment to do it safely and some hats cannot be stretched at all without distorting the crease or damaging the sweatband. A hat that is too big can typically be remedied with foam spacers (or simply a folded up paper towel) behind the sweatband at strategic locations. Please plan accordingly when purchasing a hat and remember that it is safest to err on the side of getting a hat that is larger than your measured head size. When all else fails, I do offer returns/refunds but buyer pays for all shipping costs.
