Description: Vintage Antique 1908 Waltham Mechanical Stem Wind Men's Pocket Watch Hello eBay! Thank you for considering my watch as your next purchase. I have something for you vintage watch lovers out there. This is probably one of the best vintage pocket watches I have come across in my years of collecting them. This is a listing for a 1908 Waltham men's mechanical pocket watch. The watch contains a 16s mechanical movement produced by Waltham in Waltham, Massachusetts. It is 620 grade, and finished beautifully for a movement of this era. The movement features 15 jewels, and approximately 2,000 were produced. This movement was a model 1908 and was produced in that same year. This I found out through looking up the serial number of the movement for reference, and much other research into this unique watch. The movement is in very good condition for the age. It winds as it should, ticks wonderfully, and all features work smoothly. Being a 15 jeweled movement, the quality is on the higher end for pocket watches produced during the time period, and it reflects in the design and condition of it. The dial is a white porcelain with roman numerals. The hands are original Waltham (or replacement OEM) from what I've been able to find. The condition is consistent with the age of the watch. The dial I believe to be original as well. The case is sterling silver, and is produced by the Dennison Watch Case Co. Dennison made watch cases for a wide variety of movement manufactures, including Waltham. Dennison cases could be found in containing movements made in Europe and the United States. The case features multiple trademarks, which after hours of research I was able to identify. The lion trademark represents British .925 sterling silver. The anchor represents the assembly office of Birmingham, where this watch case was produced. The ALD marking is the trademark that was used by Dennison after 1906. Finally, the O letter is, as best as I could date it, representing 1913. I originally purchased this in 2017, and have not even worn it once. The watch has not gotten very much runtime, totaling maybe half a day total since I owned it. The movement runs well and keeps decent time for an antique, and is truly incredible to watch in action. I have a fascination with all things 19th/early 20th century, especially watches. The turn of the century was such a pivotal time period for the world, to have a living piece of that history in your pocket or display stand is truly incredible. This has to be one of my favorite watches to date, simply for the deep historical aspect. As historical as this watch is, I have not and likely never will get any use out of this piece. It is a fascinating historical timepiece from a bygone era, and the fact that is has been around for over 100 years and still works to this day, is a certain beauty of mechanical watches that I love. Unfortunately, I'm at a point currently where I need the funds from this watch more than the watch itself, which is why I am selling it at the end of the day. I have been back and forth on selling this for some time and I'm sad to see it go, but I hope it can go to someone who loves vintage watches and appreciates the historical aspect of it like I do. I tried the best I could with pictures including a macro lens, but my apartment lighting is frankly not the best, and what is seen cannot be compared to real life! Thank you for looking, and I eagerly await sending this watch to its’ new forever home!
