Vintage 50s Sailor Dress Original Franklin Yellow Fit Flare Pleated Medium 6 8

Description: Vintage 1950's embroidered sailor collar day dress by Original Franklin (Franklin Original?). Center back zipper with metal teeth, pinked seams, and underarm gussets. Pale, butter yellow with a hint of gray to it, not a bright pastel. Matching belt. I want to say fabric is cotton lawn. Bodice is two-layered, skirt is single, and thus semi-sheer. This style would be worn with a crinoline I imagine. Midi length, box pleated skirt. Size 6/8 is a guess based on waist measurement. It will depend on your own measurements and choice of shape wear foundation.Waist measures 14.5" straight across (double to 29") with no giveBust measures 17.75" straight across (double to 35.5"), vertical bodice darts front and backCenter back length 39"The belt measures 32" around on its smallest setting, so it will fit loosely. Clean front. No armpit stain. Please see detail photos for these minor flaws: There are 4 tiny holes and maybe 8 small (pencil eraser size) light rust-colored age spots, all on the back of the garment, mostly concentrated on the rear right quadrant of the skirt, with one at the rear left shoulder blade. Examples circled in photo. Stitching is nearly all intact - there are a couple broken stitches at the waist seam, but it is double stitched there. Sleeve and skirt hems are staying up, but there is about 5 inches of hem undone that needs to be re-tacked. There is a touch of friction pilling in the armpit panel and light seam strain. The right side of the sailor collar has 2 tears among the pleats above the bow. Original Franklin tag is frayed and partially unstitched. Free shipping to the US via USPS Ground Advantage (insured).
