Description: The American Ladies and Gentleman's Manual of Elegance, Fashion, and True Politeness, by Charles William Day. Published in Auburn, New York in 1854. Smaller sized (4 X 6 in.), 154 page hardcover in leather spine, containing pertinent advice for its readers on:Letters of IntroductionMarriageDinnersSmokingSnuffDressMusicDancingConversationand more...Good condition. Pencil scribbles were erased from a couple of pages, and should now be unmarked. Frequent, but mostly light foxing/oxidation stains, not interfering with text legibility. A front flyleaf is missing (there's just one flyleaf in front and two in back). Leather is scuffed, but there's little to no shedding. Scattered stains on the boards, rubbed through board corners. It's fun to read through the advice, and see just how far "politeness" has become removed in our present society! Free shipping in the USA. Thanks for looking! Loc: glass shelves (top)
