Description: DATING TO THE 1870’S TWO PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION. FASHIONED OF A GOLDEN SATIN STRIPED SILK. THE BODICE HAS PLEATED SILK IN THE FRONT WITH A V NECKLINE WITH BLONDE FLORAL LACE TRIMMING THE EDGES. THE SLEEVES ARE TRIMMED IN IVORY SILK SATIN WITH A KNOT DETAIL AT THE OUTER ARM. ACCORDIAN PLEAT RUFFLES ARE BENEATH AND THE CUFF IS FINISHED IN A BEAUTIFUL BELL OF THE MATCHING BLONDE LACE. THE REAR IS BONED ON EACH SIDE OF THE CORSET LACING GROMMET HOLES WITH A SHARP POINTED BOTTOM. FULLY BONED ON THE INTERIOR AND LINED IN COTTON. THE PETERSHAM IS UNLABELED. THE SKIRT IS IN MATCHING FABRIC WITH MATCHING LACE RUFFLES GRADUATING DOWN THE FRONT AND THE BOTTOM IN THE IVORY SILK SATIN WITH HEAVY RUCHING AT THE TOP WITH PIPING AT THE TOP EDGE. PLEATED SILK SASHES FALL DOWN EACH SIDE AND THE REAR IS GATHERED AT THE KNEE AND OPENS INTO A FULL FLOWING TRAIN WITH BUCKRAM RUFFLES LINIG THE INNER TRAIN AND BUCKRAM RUFFLES WITH LACE ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE. CONDITION: THIS GOWN IS SOLD AS IT WAS ACQUIRED. THE UNDERARMS HAVE LARGE STAINING BENEATH EACH, THE GOLDEN COLOR HAS FADED. SCUFFED SOILING IS SEEN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LEFT SLEEVE WITH SOME LIGHT SOILING ON THE FOLDS OF THE IVORY SILK ON BOTH SIDES. HEAVY AGE COLOR IS SEEN TO THE LACE AROUND THE NECKLINE ON EACH SIDE. REAR BONING IS PROTRUDING ON THE LEFT SIDE WITH SMALL FRAYS TO THE EDGE OF THE SILK ON EACH SIDE. THE SKIRT HAS SOME SMALL SPLITTING BENEATH THE WAISTBAND ON THE CENTER FRONT AT A SEAM. THERE IS A VERY LARGE TRIPLE HAND SIZED DARK WATER STAIN ON THE SIDE, AS PICTURED. SEVERAL TINY OTHER SMALL WATER MARKS ARE ON THE BOTTOM SKIRTING. SPLIT FRAYING IS BENEATH THE SASH WITH A LARGE HOLE BENEATH IT WITH SPLITTING BENEATH THE WAISTBAND ON THE RIGHT SIDE JUST IN FRONT OF THE SASH. EDGE HEM HAS LIGHT SOILING. SMALL WATER STAINS ARE ON THE REAR TRAIN ON THE STRIPE SILK JUST ABOVE THE RUFFLE WITH A THUMBPRINT SIZED HOLE RIGHT ABOVE THE RUFFLE. SOLD AS IT WAS ACQUIRED. A BEAUTIFUL 1870’S RECEPTION GOWN.
