Description: Shrek 4-D Universal Studios 2006 Drinking Cup with LCD Battery Cover (As-Is) Description Up for sale is a Universal Studios Shrek 4-D Drinking Cup from 2006. I can't exactly recall when or how I came to owning this glass, but the oddest thing about it is the fact that the bottom of the cup has a threaded screw on cover that has outlines for holding button cell batteries... however, I don't see any terminals anywhere within these holders, so I can't say for sure what the purpose of this oddity being here in the first place really serves. Perhaps this cup is missing some additional electrically powered components or maybe there was an additional accessory that this cup originally came bundled with... I really have no idea, to be honest. For a while I was under the impression that the glass itself was supposed to light up somehow; what with the button cell holders being there and all, but I guess I was wrong. The cup does have a fluorescent type of green hue to it so perhaps I was also wrong in thinking that it could glow in the dark or something. Unfortunately, I can't really seem to find much information on this particular Shrek cup since the majority of the items up for sale at the moment are usually other cups and/or drinking glasses related to this franchise... but I haven't been lucky enough to find this exact cup anywhere else, so I honestly have no idea what the reason behind the cover that serves as a holding spot for button cell batteries is all about. This cup measures approximately 6 & 5/16" tall and has a diameter at the base (or LCD battery holder cover) that measures 2 & 7/16" wide. The top of the cup is about 2 & 15/16" wide in diameter and the walls are a little over 1/8" thick. The other thing that's a bit odd about this cup is that it has a fluted pattern it (like the kind that you would see on a regular drinking glass) but the strange thing is that this pattern is on the inside of the cup and not on the outside. It almost feels like a double insulated cup as well... except the graphic print is clearly on the surface and not sandwiched between layers of plastic. There is also some immediately visible signs of wear on this cup; appearing in the form of scratches, scuff marks, and worn out spots on the graphics printed on both the front and the back of the cup as well. The base of the cup also appears to have a crack running through it as well. The aforementioned threaded cover that holds the button cells has some product information written at the bottom of the cover (along the top and bottom) which reads: "WARNING: All Button Cell Batteries Contains Mercury" (yes, with the typo of an additional s in the word contain) and along the bottom the rest of the sentence/notice reads "Dispose According to Local, State or Federal Laws." The middle of this cover reads Shrek 4-D TM & (copyright mark) 2006 Dreamworks Animation LLC. And then there's an additional bit which reads "Do Not Place Batteries In Trash. Recycle." While this cup may not be in great cosmetic condition, it may very well be a true collector's item for any and all parties interested... as I can't seem to find an exact matching product out there on the market at the moment; because of this I'm pricing this item reasonably, because for all I know it be some sort of limited edition item (the kind that's usually sought after as a holy grail by a loyal fan base out there) so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade.
