Description: Up for bid is a rare matched set of 12 flat tea knives in the NEWPORT SHELL aka PURITAN pattern by Frank W. Smith, supposedly introduced in 1910 but likely earlier. The knives are 8 1/8 inches long and together weigh 601 grams, or about 1.6 troy ounces each. The knives are monogrammed "ARB" on the handle fronts. The pieces are all marked with the Frank W. Smith trademark, "STERLING", “PATENTED” and “J.E. CALDWELL & CO.”, split between the blades and the handles, though not all in the same spot for some reason. Condition on the knives is fairly good. Some of the blades are a bit wavy, and there are some stubborn spots and wear from regular use. An unusual set of solid silver knives in a later Victorian pattern.
