The Substance is a 2024 body horror film written and directed Coralie Fargeat. The film stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid. Its plot follows a fading celebrity who decides to use a black market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself, unknowingly giving her horrifying side effects. The Substance was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival where it received a 13 minute standing ovation. Benjamin Stefanski, best known by his recording alias Raffertie, is a British composer and producer. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, he studied Classical & Contemporary Music Composition at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He received initial acclaim for his experimental electronic recordings. His electronic dexterity and classic songwriting sensibility have seen him become known and sought out for the enigmatic, emotive sound he has developed throughout his work as a composer scoring for film and television.
