Description: ~ Hand-painted in Egypt on the finest handmade papyrus paper, this work of art features the ancient Egyptian pharaoh King Tutankhamun who ruled from 1332 -1323 B.C., acceding to the throne at the age of 9. In modern times, Tutankhamun is known for the highly publicized discovery of his tomb in 1922, earning him the nickname King Tut. The four-chambered tomb contained his well-preserved mummy and over 5000 artifacts and treasures, which took over a decade to catalog. This provided experts and historians the most vital insight to life, death, and religion in ancient Egyptian culture. To this day the excavation is hailed and as one of the largest and most significant archaeological events in history. ~ One owner purchased in Eqypt, circa 1990’s, still in original plastic packaging. Papyrus sheet is approximately 16.25”H x 13”W. Can be trimmed for framing; actual painted image measures 12.5”H x 9”W. Comes with certificate of authenticity. ~ A process that dates back thousands of years, Papyrus paper is handmade in Egypt from the inner stem of the finest Cyperus Papyrus plants. The sheets are formed by arranging strips side by side in two cross layers, then soaking them in water for six to twelve weeks. The natural colors develop in water and become darker the longer it soaks. The sheets are then hammered to flatten, rolled out to dry, polished, and cut to size. ~ I have a few other papyrus paintings for sale in my lot with a variety of ancient Egyptian depictions - volume pricing is an option! **FREE SHIPPING!**
