The map is titled Map of North America, Showing Its Political Divisions, and Recent Discoveries in the Polar Regions. At bottom is printed Copyright 1894 A.L. Smith, this dates the map nicely. This is an Augustus Mitchell map. Mitchell was a highly regarded mapmaker of this period. The map is from the rare 1896 Wanamaker Atlas of the World. Wanamaker bought the rights to the famed Mitchell maps and used them in their atlases. Beautiful, detailed and attractive period map of these areas. The gorgeous handcoloring is period to the map, this is before color printing was widely used. Printed on fine paper.
