Description: c. 1900s-1920s Early 20th century kachō-ga (lit. "images of flowers and birds") bronze vase with engraved and relief plant motif. Dating to the late Meiji era, this piece is of bronze manufacture and features raised mixed-metal floral and plant motif embellishments. The various leaves and berries and created from various alloys including shakudō (copper-gold) and shibuichi (copper-silver). In addition to the raised portions, there are also engraved leaves and blades of grass, giving this piece a dimensional look and feel.
