Description: Rex 5th Avenue vintage flapjack compact. Open powder well with puff and sifter. Engraved design on lid. Case mounted mirror in excellent condition. Rex Fifth Avenue – Rex Products Corp., 302 Fifth Ave., New York, a maker of compacts in the 1950s. This company later joined another, Dorset, to become Dorset-Rex in 1951. Zell, Rex, Dorset and Columbia all had 5th Avenue appended to their names and so they are often called “the 5th Avenues”. They all made moderately priced compacts. Condition: Very nice Estate. The hinge functions smoothly and the clasp/release is operable. The mirror is intact with. The sifter screen and puff appear to be original.
