Description: Beautiful Kyoto Cloisonne 6 sided vase almost certainly by the workshop of Takahara Komajiro, one of the finest Japanese cloisonne makers of the Meiji period. Examples of his work are in museums across the world. The detailing and workmanship is quite incredible.. Takahara Komajiro was a Kyoto-based enameller who opened his own studio in 1894. He won a bronze medal at the 1904 St Louis International Exhibition. He was described by Schneider, the great collector and noted expert of Meiji cloisonne as "the most well known and consistent maker of Kyoto-Jippo wares. Writing in ‘Japanese Art and Artists of Today – VI. Cloisonné Enamels; from The Studio, June 1911’ Professor Harada Jirō mentions that Takahara was an artist ‘of some note… who has recently made some considerable improvements in the ware’. An exceptional maker and artist and a chance to own a rare item of Japanese Cloisonne of the highest quality. I am listing now on the ebay site more cloisonne pieces from this outstanding maker.
