Description: Original Indian War Era US M1873 Type III Socket Bayonet & Model 1873 Scabbard w/USN Brass Escutcheon - Blade is Unmarked - US Navy - Very NICE Condition - RAREUp for sale is an Original Indian War Era US Model 1873 Type III Socket Bayonet. This bayonet has no marking. This was used by the US Navy. This bayonet will fit the M1873 Trapdoor rifle. The blade and socket are in Very Nice Condition. The bayonet is 21" overall length, with a 3" socket, 18 11/16" blade and 16 5/8" face flute. It also includes the Metal Scabbard with a Leather Frog & Brass USN Escutcheon. The scabbard has a blue finish. The are some minor scratches and wear on the finish. A dents in the scabbard (see photo), a few minor dings. The leather frog is the US Model 1873, the leather is soft and supple. Some wrinkling and surface cracking. It has no visible markings on the frog. This is a nice example of this very popular bayonet, don't miss your chance to bid. See photo's for condition.
