Description: CURRENTLY GLUED DOWN TO BOARD. SOAK IT AND IT WOULD COME OFF. SOME SOILING AND DISCOLORATION. THIS IS A STAMPED SIGNATURE, NOT LIVE INK. They didn't even bother to address to each individual MP. For the record, the recipient here was Frederick Guest. (This came from the scrapbooks of Amy Phipps Guest, who followed her husband's career quite closely, pretty much putting in any newspaper article that mentioned his name.) Letter/announcement is dated January 5, 1924. This would have gone out to a few hundred people so there was no way he would be signing these by hand. The letter provides the date when Parliament would meet and vote for a Speaker. The King's Speech would be delivered a few days later and a reply would follow that. At this point in time, Asquith was coming to the end of his long career. He lost his final Parliamentary election later that year.
