Description: Presented is an elegant sterling silver large stuffing, platter or casserole spoon. This piece is in the Newport Shell or Puritan pattern by Frank W. Smith; this would date the server between 1910-1920s. The pattern displays a handsome beaded edge with a large shell at the top of the handle. For function of the piece, the handle has a notch on the bottom to keep the server from sliding down into a dish. There is a “W” monogram on the front in flowing script. The shaft of this server is exceptionally thick and heavy. This server is marked .925 for sterling silver along with “patented”. There is also a retailer's mark for Bigelow, Kennard & Co. of Boston. The spoon is in excellent condition! This piece is quite heavy and has a thick, long handle. There are no breaks, no repairs, and no problems of any kind.
