Description: Charles Atlas, once known as the 97 lb weakling trademarked a new way to become physically stronger. He tells you all about it in his book "Everlasting Health and Strength" which reveals his secrets of Dynamic Tension. While growing up, Angelo Siciliano (Charles Atlas) would get beaten up by the neighborhood bully and his uncle because of his size. He would come to love the statutes and stories of Hercules and other mythological figures in the local museum and decided he wanted to become like them. With this inspiration, he devised the Dynamic Tension that pitted one muscle against another since he could not afford barbells. His neighborhood soon started calling him Atlas and then nicknamed him "Charley". This in turn led him to change his name to Charles Atlas and his new career was launched with the help of Tilney, an English naturopath in 1929. He won several contests, one being "The most perfectly developed man in the world", which he won twice in 1921 and 1922. This package contains letters and sign up forms along with lessons. He then started his multimillion dollar mail order body building business. The booklet, which is undated, has the date of 1939 from the Smithsonian Institutes Catalog. It is 47 pages long. He was a hugely successful business and lived to be 80 years old.“Nobody picks on a strong man!” -Charles Atlas
