Description: For your consideration an Early Antique EAPG Flint Glass Small Compote. Pattern "ARGUS" (AKA Thumbprint), from 1860's. It is an early American pattern glass (EAPG). In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It has all of the characteristic of glass from that period: straw marks, bubbles, and small scratches. According to Ruth Webb Lee, this pattern was produced by McKee Brothers, Bakewell, Pears & Co., and Sandwich. Name of Thumbprint was used as well as Argus. It has a beautiful bell tone ring when struck. It is brilliant and beautiful. A difficult piece to find. It measures approximately 8 to 7 3/4 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches in diameter.
