Description: "CAT" PAPYRUS ART APPROXIMATELY 12" X 15" New in original packaging. The plastic packaging distorts the image of the papyrus art. circa 1990. A GLOBAL ART CREATION. "HISTORY OF PAPYRUS PAPER: The process of making papyrus paper is being painstakingly recreated in Egypt by craftsmen who are experts in rending the tall hedges of the Nile Valley into a crude type of paper. The papyrus stalks, found in profusion in the marshes along the Nile, are peeled, cut vertically into strips, soaked in water and then dehydrated. The strips are cut to specific measurements and layered into horizontal and vertical directions, one direction at a time on a cotton material. After the series of dehydrating sessions, the papyrus paper is then ready for ink, paint or gold plating. Papyrus paper is the oldest paper known to man and the most durable. The original text of the Bible was written on papyrus paper. This Papyrus art offering is from a closed retail store in the 1990’s,and has been stored in an airconditioned space for about 30 years. Still in it’s original display packaging. Bright vibrant colors. A great collectable for the appreciator of Egyptian art.
