Description: VG. February 4, 1957 - Vermillion. This has to be my favorite find of the past year, so it’s fitting that it is my first listing of the new year. Before he became the legendary, intimidating Hall of Fame Pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Bob Gibson was the star, and first African American player, for the Creighton Blue Jays basketball team. He played for three seasons, finishing his college career with per game averages of 20+ points & over 8 rebounds. I would wager that had he chosen to pursue an NBA path, he would likely be in the basketball Hall of Fame, but he made a wise decision with baseball. In addition to the program, you will also receive the coolest basketball card that was never made (officially). It is an “Art Card’ designed by eBay’s own “greatcustomstuff 14”. Check out all their fun designs on ebay. I’ve been looking for several years, and this is the first item I’ve found from Gibsons’ time at Creighton so I can pretty safely say it is rare.
