It was also known as the Battle of Tohotonimme and the Steptoe Disaster, a conflict between U.S. Army forces under Lt. Col. Edward Steptoe and Spokane Native American tribes. It took place on May 17, 1858, near what is present-day Rosalia, Washington. The Native Americans were victorious. Page 3 also has a report: "Frazer River" concerning the discovery of gold in British Columbia. Four pages, nice condition. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
