Description: This sale is for One (1) NOS WWII A-3 Waist Gunner’s SAFETY BELT Here’s an unused and nice Safety Belt that was designed to be used by Waist Gunner's in the B-17 Flying Fortress & B-24 Liberator, as well as in other USAAF Bombers' Waist Positions. Well marked MFG. BY IRVING AIR CHUTE CO., INC. with a JUN 12,1943 date. This Belt is further stamped with TSTD 6-45 and INSP. SEPT. 50 dates (the latter because it was still in government inventory at the time), plus I.A.C. (Irving) & AN government inspector's stamps. The A-3 Gunner's Belt loops through his parachute harness and secure tubing running along the floor of the bomber, providing stability during the violent maneuvers of combat. The Belt is made of thick-but-soft, 1-3/4” wide cotton webbing that’s approximately 5’ long (30” or so of adjustment) with a heavy duty steel loop on one end and a spring-loaded quick release clamp on the other. Another nice, vintage A-3 Gunner's Belt from DEPOT 41 ! Note that these were handled for Government inspection, plus they've been in storage since WWII. The reddish-brown marks are remnants of a rubber band that held the Belt for packing long ago. This one also has a few faint stains that are shown in the images above - hence the reduced price. The A-3 Gunner's Belt you see in the images provided is the one you'll receive! Be aware that reproduction A-3 Gunner's Belts have hit the market, and since I've been providing detailed images for them copy, their cloning has improved considerably. However, they still haven't reproduced the original carton with all its tags, markings & patina. Also, they will NEVER be able to reproduce the authenticity of the vintage and genuine A-3 GUNNER'S BELTS offered by Depot 41. Some traits of authentic A-3 Gunner's Belts: - Real A-3 Belts are made of cotton - Center thread on mid-to-late production A-3 Belts are turquoise in color - Metal fittings will usually have remnants of green plating - Manufacture dates will vary - Stencil and AN inspector's stamp locations are randomly placed - WWII test date(s) are randomly stenciled in various locations - Post-WWII test date(s) are randomly stenciled in different locations - Cartons show the expected wear from being nearly 8 decades old Kingman Army Air Field lives at Depot41.com KEYWORDS: WWII souvenir, A-20 Havoc, A-26 Invader, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, B-26 Marauder, B-29 Superfortress, B-32 Dominator, United States Army Air Forces, USAAF, Browning 50 cal caliber machine gun, Sperry, Martin, Emerson, Bendix, Turret, Instrument Panel, Stick Grip, Bombsight, Sperry, Bombardier, Bomb Bay, Bomb Rack, Training Bomb, guitar strap, Irvin, IrvinGQ parachute
