Description: I have been an art glass dealer for 19 years and an art glass collector for more than 30 years. For the past 19 years I have traveled back and forth to the Island of Murano, importing and then distributing to galleries in North America and beyond. I always seem to end up with misc. pieces left over when I move on from a studio and, after many years of considering this, I am finally making those few pieces available for sale. This piece has been stored in my warehouse in a box for many years and is in original condition. I see a lot of glass on this website that says it's "Murano" when in fact it is not made on Murano. After 19 years of working directly with the glass studios there I have become pretty good at being able to tell the difference. So please be aware. If you are looking for authentic Murano glass ask questions and do your research. You should be able to find out the studio or glass artist that made a piece. Then check their website and see if the piece offered looks like the one on their site. It may not be in current production, but in our case I often have the original catalog I received when I was at the studio and I can show you the specific page it was shown on. This particular piece was made by Alessandro Barbaro at Colleoni Studio. It's one of the larger studios on the island and has specialized in glass sculpture over many years. They make each one completely by hand. Barbaro was known as one of the great masters on the island for decades and he has now retired. So finding pieces signed by him of this quality is going to become nearly impossible in the near future. This vase is named Vaso Sbruffi Esterni and is approx. 15 3/4" tall by 11 3/4" wide by 7 3/8" deep.
