Description: This authentic Hudson’s Bay 4 point multi-stripe full size wool blanket from the mid 1920’s is in very good or better condition. It measures approximately 72 inches by 87 inches and it weighs about 5 ½ pounds. The blanket has the longer nap that seems to be typical of these older Hudson’s Bay blankets. To our eyes, while there is some moth damage, it doesn’t detract from the overall look and function of the blanket. Specifically, there are two holes, one around a half inch and the other smaller, near one end of the blanket, and around twenty moth-related thin spots, a number of which are shown in the accompanying photographs. According to Harold Tichenor’s book, The Collector’s Guide to Point Blankets, the label on this blanket was used in the mid 1920’s. See page 59 of his book. In addition, Tichenor mentions that the paler than usual yellow stripe on this blanket, was the result of a dye change employed by Hudson’s Bay during this time period.
