Description: This listing is for the old cocktail martini shaker that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told it's history. Some research tells me that it was probably made around 1905. I say that because I found on the internet an ad for sterling Larchmont Yacht Club trophy trophy given for a Yacht named "Pup" in 1905. Also, I found a similar Poole shaker sales record that was advertised as being from the early 1900s. I am assuming that the L.Y.C. engraved on it is referring to the Larchmont Yacht Club in New York but I might be wrong. I leave it to the buyer to decide what the L.Y.C. just stands for and how old the Shaker is. The engraving on it reads, L.Y.C., June 25-39, 1st Prize, Free For All, Unlimited Horse Power, Inboard Runabouts, The Pup, Owner, Ed C Flanagon, Driven By, Capt H Zimmerman". The strange date makes me wonder if the owner is Flanagan. The bottom is marked, "EPNS, Poole Silver Co, Taunton Mass, 1752". The 2 is difficult to read but I think that is what it is. The shaker measures close to 15 1/4 inches tall and weighs close to 2 pounds 8.8 ounces . The condition is much like you see it in the photos. There's lots of tarnish. I have not tried to polish it. The lettuce stuck and. I am old and my relatively weak hands have not been able to remove it, I think that it moved a little when I first tried to twist it off. There are some scratches on the bottom around the mark. Otherwise I have not found any other scratches. There are no dents. Otherwise, it is as shown.I guarantee this trophy to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description; please look at all of them. I allow three business days for shipping, but I usually ship the same or next day if possible. Please note that the lighting in my photos is uneven, and there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors; different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs "approximately" because no measurements are exact, and some things are difficult to measure.I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied. I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation. I sometimes purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. I often, but not always, ship the same or next day. Often, I have a double-walled box custom made for larger items, which might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually made from biodegradable materials. Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends, and I might not be available to answer emails on weekends. Thanks for looking at my ad.
