Description: This is a 100-year-old piece of wallpaper from the kitchen area. It has heat/burn marks so I think it was on or near the kitchen cabinets near the stove. There may have been some in the petite closet. (we know it is original to the building because it was glued to the wood planks which were stuffed with batting and hair, human and horsehair. The wallpaper piece for sale is 3" inches high and 3" inches wide. It has several little pink flowers with a blue checked pattern. The kitchen area was an important planning and meeting area for Lee Harvey Oswald and he called the dining area his library. The kitchen was connected to the back door, bathroom and dining/library area. (This is the way Lee came into the apartment most of the time.) The dining/library area was connected to the kitchen (which had 3 doors, one to the bathroom, one to the dining room/("library") and 1 to the back door) to the outside door! In-between the dining room/("library") and kitchen is the petite closet with the petite window, this may have been where baby June slept. The apartments were very efficient, you could open up the doors and connect the dining/library room into the front living room/bedroom. You would never know the front living room was also a bedroom because it had a Murphy Bed - Such an efficient layout! ALOT of DOOR Knobs and DOORS!This is the building where Lee Harvey Oswald ordered the gun that killed Officer Tippit after the tragic assassination of President Kennedy. Poor Officer Tippit, such a fine man with such a fine family. 600 Elsbeth (formerly 602-604 Elsbeth) is in the Warren Commission. Mr. and Mrs. Tobias were the Building Managers in 1963, and the Warren Commission interviewed them extensively. Mr. Tobias drew a picture of the building for the Warren Commission. A copy of this map of the building will be included with your wallpaper purchase and a letter of authentication from the owner of the property Jane Bryant, me! Thanks for helping preserve history! The story of Jane Bryant, the property owner, trying to preserve the historical building from the unnecessary demolition by the City of Dallas was in news outlets all over the world from 2007 to 2013 heavily and most recently a story in Dallas based "Candy's Dirt" by April Towery was published October 9, 2023 revisiting the challenges that Jane Bryant faced trying to save 600 Elsbeth. Collectors all over the world come to Dallas to see Lee Harvey Oswald history, and even though the building came down, the property site still receives history lover's visits. Newspapers and media did stories on 600 Elsbeth.
