19th Century French Signed By Paul Duboy polychrome Bisque Busts Sculpture 1879

These will be professionally packaged and shipped in two separate shipments to ensure safe arrival. Both are in very good condition. I noticed no repairs or damage to these busts. The bust to the right of the flowers shows a small chip on one of the pedals. I notice dust and some scratches on the busts due to age (see close up photos). I mainly pointed out the neck, ears and sides of the busts. The busts measure approximately 20" tall each X 10" wide. The bust on the left with the large hat at the base is loose. I can't tighten it because the bolt and bolt nut are rusted and I can't tighten them to secure the base. It stands up well on its own, however, when you touch the base of the pedestal when lifting it, it moves. Artist Biography: Paul Dubois was born on July 18, 1829 in Nogent-sur-Seine, France. He began studying Law to please his father, who worked as a notary, but abandoned it to train as a sculptor; His enthusiasm for this was possibly due to the admiration he had for the work of his great-uncle Jean-Baptiste Pigalle.
