Santa waves to throngs of children who lined Canal Street today for the annual downtown merchants' Christmas Parade. Santa rode the last float in an eight-float parade with the theme, "Children of the World." The parade was billed as the largest ever presented with numerous marching bands from high schools throughout the New Orleans area. It included sheriff's posses, drill teams, marching units and other bands. Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches. Photo is dated 11-13-1972.
