Description: INCLUDING THE OUTER WRAPS, THIS APPROXIMATELY 9 INCH SQUARE PAMPHLET IS 12 PAGES. THERE IS MINOR WEAR AND AGE RELATED PAPER TONING. THERE IS NO DATE BUT THERE IS A SENTENCE "... A JOB TARGETED FOR COMPLETION BY JUNE 1973" THAT SUGGESTS THIS IS 1972 AT THE LATEST. THE PAMPHLET IS NUMBERED AM-683 BUT THE LETTERS "Rev." SUGGEST THAT A PRIOR VERSION OF THIS PAMPHLET WAS LIKELY IN EXISTENCE. Doing some online research, I have found no pamphlets dated prior. Amtrak has a downloadable pamphlet that suggests the same "over 200 daily trains serving 340 locations" and the map of the areas being serviced is the same here as Amtrak's earliest pamphlet on their website. (Unfortunately, they have no date for theirs either). This pamphlet makes it quite clear in two places that Amtrak accepted only 1,277 of the original 3,000 intercity passenger service cars available when they came into existence. Amtrak's website does not seem to have this information and estimates 1,200 cars were accepted. This is likely one of the earliest Amtrak pamphlets ever released and with the title "What is Amtrak?" it seems unlikely that a significant number of earlier publications exist. If you have information that I can use for verification, I would be happy to hear it but this was clearly printed prior to the targeted date of completion for renovations. All pages are shown. approximately 9 inches square when closed. PLEASE USE ZOOM FUNCTION ON ALL PHOTOS. train2 artdrawer4
