This is The World War II issue of 14 December 1942 five francs banknote with the wide V to the left of the left signature. The note has a black design on gold colored background on the front. The front depicts the bust of an African woman facing right. The back is red-violet on blue underprint with the denomination and the country name. The note was printed by E.A. Wright Bank Note Co. of Philadelphia USA. The note has two signatures on the front and a serial number, which for this particular note is 0099272 and the note is series X. The note has no watermark that we could find. It is clean and retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: The note is dated 14 December 1942. Printer: E.A. Wright Bank Note Co. of Philadelphia USA Size: The banknote measures ~4 1/2" by ~2 9/16". Pick Number: P 28a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B115a. Condition: I would grade the banknotes as choice crisp about uncirculated or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note shows minimum signs of circulation and handling. It has no folds and is clean with no soiling or staining. The edges are intact with no roughness and the corners are squared and intact with no observable rounding or folding. The note retains all of its original stiffness, sheen and crispiness. It has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. The only issue we see is a few minor bumps or wrinkles in the body of the note and along the edges. This are minor but can be seen when looking closely at the note and hence out Au grade.
