North American F-100D “Mary Jane” flown by USAF Major Don Schmenk 308 TFS, 31 TFW October 1969 - Tuy Hoa AB Custom mods to the base kit include: - mk117s and LAU-3 rockets. - modified 335 gallon fuel tanks as used in Vietnam (most models have the smaller, incorrect, 225 gallon pre-war tanks. -3rd party decals. -Custom built brass tube nose probe and refueling probe for durability. -Detailed cockpit. Note: the nose probe is detachable to prevent damage in shipping. Easily slides back into place without glue. Similarly, the canopy can be attached in either open or closed position upon receipt. See photos. Built from the Monogram kit which is still the most accurate rendition of this aircraft. Professional weathering and finishing techniques used including: washes, filters, dry brushing, pastels, Microscale System used in decal application to prevent silvering. All seams are puttied and sanded, lost surface detail is rescribed or reproduced: paint schemes are accurate and airbrushed: weathered to an appropriate level: decals do not exhibit silvering: loadouts are correct for the type and period: out of scale kit probes, antennae and aerials are generally replaced with brass wire for scale accuracy and durability: Model will be carefully packaged in Poly-Fil fiber packing material and fully insured.
